FirstRole is run by CareerHack. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google.
- Profile and CV: the CV you upload and the profile details you save, such as your education, skills and experience.
- Your activity: jobs you save, applications you track, and reports you send.
- Employer posts: the job details and work email an employer submits.
- Feedback: what you send through the Feedback button, the page you sent it from and whether you were on a phone or computer.
Visit counting
To understand how FirstRole is used, we count page visits and a few actions (such as checking a job or preparing an application). Your browser stores a random ID for this. We don't record your IP address, we don't use advertising cookies, and we don't track you on other websites. Visit records are deleted after 180 days.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account working.
- To write cover letters and CV tips for jobs you choose.
- To keep track of your applications.
- To email you about new jobs in your field, if you turn on job alerts.
- To find and remove fake or harmful job posts.
We never sell your data, and we never send your CV to an employer. You decide where to apply.
AI processing
When you upload your CV or prepare an application, the text of your CV and the job is sent to Google's Gemini AI service to produce your profile, cover letter and tips. Google may use this content to improve its services. If you'd rather not, don't upload a CV: you can still browse jobs, use the scam checker and track applications.
Where it's stored
Your data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in the European Union. Your CV is in private storage that only your account can open.
Your choices
- Edit your profile at any time from the Profile page.
- Delete your CV and profile details from the Profile page.
- To delete your whole account, email contactcareerhack@gmail.com. We'll do it within 7 days.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, at the same address.
